Local know-how

Running the Port of Baltimore from Dundalk

Seagirt is run by Ports America Chesapeake and moved a record 1.1 million TEUs in 2025. To pull a box there you need a TWIC, an eModal Trucker Check registration for you and your truck, and an RFID tag mounted on the truck. The main gate runs 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM on weekdays, with Saturday gates posted by port bulletin.

Since May 2026 the internal bridge between Dundalk Marine Terminal and Seagirt is closed to trucks, so you enter each terminal through its own main gate. Since the Key Bridge collapse, harbor crossings go through the I-895 and I-95 tunnels. Hazmat loads that are barred from the tunnels take the west side of the Beltway.

Much of the freight stays close. Tradepoint Atlantic at Sparrows Point, just east of Dundalk, holds large Amazon, Under Armour and FedEx Ground buildings. Maryland's annual containerized cargo permit covers heavier sealed international boxes moving to or from the port.
